Grape Varieties & Vinification
Abadía Retuerta is a historic estate in Castilla y León, Spain, with a winemaking tradition dating back over eight centuries. The estate, led by oenologist Ángel Anocíbar, is known for its commitment to wines that reflect the unique personality of the terroir.
Since early 2022, it has held its own Protected Designation of Origin (Abadía Retuerta DOP).
The Cuvée Palomar is an expressive blend of Spanish and international varieties: Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano, and Malbec. The wine undergoes a long aging period of 24 months in French oak barrels. This extended barrel maturation contributes to the structure, complexity, and the integration of the fruit and oak aromas.
Tasting Note
The wine has a powerful purple colour in the glass. The nose is rich in aromas of red fruit such as raspberry and strawberry, complemented by spicy notes of licorice. On the palate, the wine is highly aromatic, with a delicate and elegant texture.
Food Pairing
The power, the elegant texture, and the fresh finish make the Cuvée Palomar suitable for rich, yet refined dishes, such as entrecôte or tenderloin, or refined game dishes. Due to the spicy licorice notes, the wine is also a good match for complex, flavoured charcuterie and Spanish tapas with a sweet/spicy component.

This historic winery, located on the prestigious 'Golden Mile' of the Duero Valley, distinguishes itself through a centuries-old tradition and a pioneering vision. The absolute highlight? Abadía Retuerta recently received the highest recognition in the wine world: an exclusive, proprietary Protected Designation of Origin (PDO).
